From the latest XKCD:

Where did those people in the distant future get the idea that bloggers wore red capes, goggles, and blog from high altitude balloons?

As you can see below, that office couldn’t possibly fit in a high altitude balloon and the wind would blow papers right off my desk.

That’s why I blog from my secret volcano lair.

I’m hoping that other bloggers out there join me in helping set the record straight about this.

(More seriously, I’d like to thank Gordon Daugherty for letting me borrow his goggles. Gordon is a professional swimmer – and NetQoS’s new VP of corporate development and strategy. He oversees our strategic planning process, looks at market expansion opportunities, investments, and acquisitions.

He served as chief marketing officer for Britestream Networks, a provider of network security solutions, and president of the Americas for VCON, an Israeli-based supplier of videoconferencing technology.

He started his career at IBM, and used to lead Compaq’s North American Product marketing efforts for networking, software, and servers. And at VCON, Daugherty grew revenue from the Americas 340 percent in three years, which enabled the company to reach $36 million and execute a successful IPO along the way.

He’s also founder and principal of Shockwave Innovations, a marketing and strategy consulting firm.

And I do believe this is the first time he’s been asked, in a professional capacity, to provide superhero goggles.)

"Secret volcano lair"? I wondered why my secret bat cave (which is right next door) was always so warm...

Darn, I'd love to work for a company would let me dress like that all year round :)
